Trevor Sutton is a non-figurative painter and printmaker, working with abstract forms to create sensuous, physical works.
He studied at Hornsey College of Art and Birmingham Polytechnic, graduating in the 1970s. Throughout his career his paintings have demonstrated the aesthetics of a ritualistic and ordered artistic process, working with circular, square or rectangular formats, and more recently, grids. Since 2008 he has been incorporating hand-painted collaged elements, in addition to working directly onto the surface of the work.
Trevor Sutton currently lives and works in London. His work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the UK and internationally. He is included in a number of collections including those of the Arts Council and British Council.
