Revealing an unfamiliar side to Warhol
The exhibition presents for the first time in the UK over 100 Andy Warhol artworks from an important private collection based in the US. It is supplemented by loans of artist films and ephemera from the Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh.
Curated by Sir Norman Rosenthal, the exhibition reveals at times an unfamiliar side to the globally-recognised art icon.
Artimage was delighted to work with the Ashmolean Museum to license a number of Warhol's lesser-known images for reproduction in the accompanying catalogue. Images include Warhol's Polaroid photos of friends and associates, as well as rarely seen screen prints.
Declan McCarthy, Commercial Manager at the Ashmolean, said: "The exhibition spans Warhol’s career from the iconic works of the 1960s to the experimental works of his last decade. The publishing team at the Ashmolean were in close contact with DACS through all steps of the production process, which ran very smoothly, resulting in the handsome publication for the show."
