First anthology to chart Richard Long’s critical reception

Richard Long’s practice stems from a deep love of nature and his experience of making solitary walks. He first came to prominence in the late 1960s and is part of a generation of international artists that extended the possibilities of sculpture beyond traditional materials and methods.

For the first time, Stones Clouds Miles; A Richard Long Reader brings together over 30 essays and reviews on the artist from the late 1960s to the present.

The texts are accompanied by a selection of the artist’s own statements, interviews, and an introductory essay by Clarrie Wallis that examines his unique position within post-war art history.

We were delighted to work with Ridinghouse to license images of Long’s stone sculptures. We also sourced on their behalf a couple of rare archival photographs from our image partner, the British Council Collection.
