Enabling creativity
The Royal Academy of Art (RA) licenses Peter Doig’s Lapeyrouse Wall for use in their spring 2018 issue of RA Magazine, as chosen by author William Boyd, who writes an accompanying short fiction piece inspired by it. The Artimage Licensing team worked closely with the RA on behalf of Peter Doig to supply all the rights and permissions necessary, ensuring the whole process was smooth and easy.
Telling a story
With each new magazine, the RA commissions a prolific fiction writer to select an artwork of their choice and write a new 1,000-word piece, or short story, in response to it. For the RA’s spring 2018 issue, it was William Boyd (of Birdsong) who got to choose, and the painting he chose was Lapeyrouse Wall by Peter Doig. The artwork prompted Boyd’s new and original writing, Three Poets in Key West, Florida.
The licensing fees we collected went back to the artist to support his work and practice.
