Licensing revenue will help fund the Collection
The National Galleries of Scotland Collection comprises over 96,000 objects, dating from the early Renaissance to the present day. It boasts works by some of the most important artists in history, as well as the world’s most comprehensive collection of Scottish art.
Artimage’s partnership with the National Galleries of Scotland will showcase their images to a wider, international audience and generate important licensing revenue for the public collection. The revenue will also support the artists and estates owning the artistic copyright.
Shona Corner, Photography and Licensing Manager, National Galleries of Scotland said:
“We’re very much looking forward to working in partnership with Artimage. By promoting and facilitating the reproduction of our images, as well as providing a space to view them online, Artimage will support and widen engagement with important artworks in the Collection. The licensing revenue will importantly help us to fund its ongoing management and development.”
Highlights from the Collection
A large selection of images are available to view and request online through our dedicated National Galleries of Scotland image collection. In addition to supplying the image file, we also clear all rights in the image for your reproduction.
The collection includes images of artworks by major twentieth-century Scottish artists Joan Eardley and William Turnbull, as well as other British artists including Patrick Caulfield, Prunella Clough, Sir Terry Frost and LS Lowry. We will continue to grow the collection of images over the course of the year.
